The Teachers for West Africa Program

The Teachers for West Africa Program was a service-based program run through Elizabethtown College with funding from the Hershey Corporation from 1962-1972. Through this program, recent college graduates from all over the United States were sent to West Africa to provide free teaching services for underfunded schools or developing education initiatives. Created by current students of Elizabethtown College, this website provides a general overview of the program and some of its figures, digital data displays and resources, as well as a series of archival collections featuring images, photographs, and documents from the program.
